New Hampshire driver's license numbers are encoded in the following pattern:

mmLlFyyddx

A John Doe, born on March 10, 1968, could have a driver's license number of 03DEJ68101.

mm - Month of birth

This is the month of birth padded with zeroes if necessary. Thus it will hold a value from 01 through 12.

L - Initial of last name

The first letter of the last (family) name.

l - Last letter of last name

The last letter of the last (family) name.

F - Initial of first name

The first letter of the first (given) name.

yy - Year

The year without the first two digits.

dd - Day of month

The day of the month, again zero padded on the left if only a single digit

x - Overflow

Used to differentiate between multiple people who would otherwise have the same number.
